Eric McFadden, Paulo Baldi, Paula O'Rourke, Marisa Martinez Mead.
LIAR stepped on to the music scene in 1994 with its original members Eric McFadden,
Paula O'Rourke, Paulo Baldi, and Marisa Martinez Mead. In 1997 Marisa left and was replaced
with Sheila Schat on violin. Liar's debut release
"Devil Dog Road" and follow up album "Gone Too Far"
received much acclaim among both fans and critics. Originally from Albuquerque and now
based in San Francisco, Liar serves up a smoking concoction of maniacal freak show sounds
from Barcelona, Bombay, Austin and Tucumari. "If I were driving through the Great Salt
Desert at 3:00am,this is the album I'd want on the car stereo-tasty noir rock layered with
strains of blues, bluegrass, folk, and middle eastern flourishes." States Sam Hurwitt at
the East Bay Express. Liar is desert rock at it's finest-beautiful, dangerous, and
exhilarating. Liar won the SF Weekly's Wammies in 1997 and Bam Magazine's California
Music Awards in 1998
...listening
to this record is like watching a thunderstorm brew up over the
Sangre de Cristo range and sweep down the valley of the Rio
grande, beautiful, dangerous and endlessly entertaining.
Henry C. Smith/Soundcheck Magazine
Liar,
with its multilayered sound, has a killer recording that has both
critics and bookers listening. Deft musicians from different
walks of life, they hammer out a unique sound.

Liar's
Eric McFadden growls with a dusty cadence as his fingers dance
across the guitar strings with an ease that betrays a pact with
the devil.

Liar
is the first shoo-in for success I've seen since some of the
early four non-blonde gigs...
